Main bearings are automotive-type ball bearings offering superior crankshaft support. All units also feature an easy-to-read sight glass, copper discharge and unloader tubes, and powder-coated tanks.

Contractor Series
Contractor series compressors feature heavy-duty, oil-lubricated cast iron sleeve pumps. They also feature two-piece connecting rods, an independent wrist pin, and a real three-ring piston. All contractor series compressors have fan-cooled, thermal overload-protected motors, and a heavy-duty pressure switch with on/off control and a copper bleeder tube. A finned copper discharge tube is used to increase heat dissipation. All units come with a regulator (except gas units regulated by a pilot valve) and an easy-to-read pressure gauge.

Commercial Series
Commercial series compressors feature precision steel connecting rods with automotive-type rod insert bearings at the crankshaft, as well as needle bearings at the wrist pin for long service life and reliability. Commercial series pumps also have disc and spring valves for higher efficiency and reliability, as well as being easily serviced without the need to remove the pump head. Pistons have four rings instead of three for higher efficiency and less oil carry-over. These units come with powder-coated ASME tanks with four feet on stationary units and have a rigid metal belt guard for protection. Single-stage units are factory set to shut off at 125 PSI, while two-stage units are set to shut off at 175 PSI. All units have an easy-to-read oil sight glass and have automotive-type paper filters/silencers to provide clean intake air and quieter operation.

Industrial Series
Castair industrial series compressors feature all cast iron pumps for long life and quiet operation. They also feature disc and spring valves for easy service, higher efficiency, and better reliability. Industrial pumps are operated at slow RPMs ranging from 420 to 995 RPMs, offering longer life and quieter operation. The pistons have four rings, versus three in many other brands, providing less oil carryover. Connecting rods are made of precision steel and have automotive-type rod insert bearings at the crankshaft and needle bearings at the wrist pin for long service life and reliability.
The pumps also feature tapered roller bearings at both ends of the crankshaft for superior support and less friction. The C1 and C2 pumps have a centrifugal unloader for load-less startup every time. The discharge and unloader tubes are made from copper for long life and heat dissipation. Tanks are powder-coated ASME tanks with four legs on verticals and channels on horizontal tanks. All motors are heavy-duty 1725 RPM industrial motors with a full 15% service factor.

Rotary Screw Series
Castair rotary screw compressors are 100% duty cycle compressors. They are designed to run continuously and constantly supply air at a set PSI. The units are self-contained on a USA-made ASME tank that eliminates a water separator and plumbing to the tank, as required by other brands. The air ends are operated by a solenoid as opposed to a computer. They have a built-in air/oil separator with a spin-on filter. Each compressor has easy-to-read pressure and temperature gauges. Hour meters come standard for easily determining maintenance needs based on use. All rotary screw compressors have spin-on oil filters and use automotive-type paper filters to keep components clean and running optimally. The air-cooled aftercooler/oil cooler is standard and easily removed for cleaning and maintenance. These units use off-the-shelf V-belts and come standard with an adjustable belt tensioner. They also include heavy-duty 1725 RPM motors with a full 15% service factor. Compressors are factory-filled with synthetic oil good for one year or 4,000 service hours.
All rotary screw compressors come with a standard two-year warranty on the air end, electric motor, and tank. Compressors come standard at 135 PSI but can be ordered up to 175 PSI from the factory.

Rotary Piston Series
Castair rotary piston compressors are a hybrid compressor that offers the best of both worlds. The rotary screw will operate continuously at 100% duty cycle while the piston portion will kick in if there is extra demand for air that the rotary alone can't keep up with. Similar to a standard rotary screw, the compressor will shut down if there is no air demand for more than 10 minutes. The piston compressor also acts as a backup compressor if there is a breakdown or maintenance needed on the rotary screw. If air demand is light, the user can choose to operate just the piston compressor, conserving energy at the same time.
The total horsepower is up to 45, and it delivers up to 180 CFM at 100 PSI with a maximum PSI of 175. Users should determine their CFM required under normal operation and size the rotary screw to supply the needed CFM. The piston compressor should be sized to whatever the peak CFM used would be under extreme operating conditions to satisfy the additional demand needed.

Enclosed Piston Series
Our enclosed piston compressor units are designed to maintain a quiet operating environment with a clean, sleek-looking design. They offer the same high-quality components used in our other compressors with the added function of being extremely quiet due to the cabinet design. A cabinet contains the pump and motor and has internal fans for cooling. The cabinet is lined with soundproofing material to keep noise levels extremely low. The design of the enclosure allows the user to start/stop the compressor with the push of a button and to read air pressure from an easy-to-read gauge. These units are offered in single-phase 5 HP and three-phase 10 HP configurations. CFM is rated at 18 CFM on the 5 HP unit and 35.5 CFM on the 10 HP units.
